How do you intend to use the four areas of the media theoretical framework to communicate meaning and meet the requirements of your chosen brief? (approx. 400 words)
Product 1: 200-250 Words
Lifestyle Magazine
My brief is to create a Lifestyle magazine, it states that my target audience is for a primarily 16-25 year old middle market aspirational group. With 'Sync' magazine I will intend to effectively use audience, representation, industry and media language to communicate my ideas towards my target audience. My product will cost a price that is reflective to similar products in this industry, this means that my product can aim to be a competitor in this market. After doing some research into the codes and conventions of lifestyle magazines I found that I would need to make sure that my product is recognisable in this genre, however there needed to also be instances of differences in order to keep my product new and sellable. I also understood that to meet the requirement of my brief I would need to use original imagery, this would mean using research of lifestyle magazines to see the level and type of images I need to take. However, I also have realised that without instances of differences, my product will be boring.I will also use media language to communicate meaning across my production, I will learn this by using research of lifestyle magazines.
Lifestyle magazine website
The same house style will be used soon my website. The use of the font 'Stencil STD' as a house font will be a clear sign of my brand. The use of the colours white and black will be the main colour way of my website as this adheres to the research I took on the favourite colours of my target audience. I also found when researching that the websites tended to include the masthead on each page which helps to reinforce brand identity and house style. I will do this by using the 'SYNC' logo on the top of each page and also using it on front covers of my magazine. Following my research I found that my target audience liked topics such as sport, fashion, travel and so I have decided to include adverts on these topics. I aim to include articles that my target audience will enjoy reading, to do this I will use the results from my audience research to find the most suitable topics to include. From my own research I found that health, fashion, social media, and celebrity gossip were popular topics in lifestyle magazines. The audio-visual aspect of my website will be in the form of a message from the editor of sync magazine explaining how they got to where they are today. From my research I found that most lifestyle magazines will include a written editors note and so I decided that in order to keep my website modern and trendy I will film mine. I will also include social media links as these are a new media form that will help my audience be a part of the magazine and will allow me to find a wider audience.
How do you intend to link your media products to demonstrate your knowledge and understanding of the digitally convergent nature of your media production? (approx. 100 words)
Product 2 150-200 words
I intend to link my media products. My brief includes 2 front covers, I will aim to link these by using a house font in both issues. This will help me demonstrate my knowledge and understanding of the digital convergence of my product. I will link both the print version of "SYNC Magazine" and the online, website version by firstly, keeping a house theme. I will do this by using mainly the 'Stencil Std' font on both pieces. I will also keep the design in both pieces similar, I will do this by keeping a minimalistic QR codes which will contain a link to the website. By doing all of these things, I will conform to the brief and will also effectively link my media products, thus demonstrating my knowledge and understanding of the digitally convergent nature of my media product.
